MBA Mission Statement
We serve our region by educating ethical leaders who are effective in managing organizations in the global environment.
History The School of Business Administration, founded in 1918, is the largest professional school at The University of Montana. Since 1982, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been fully accredited by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. The school is one of 482 business schools worldwide to be accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
At-A-Glance We offer two options where students can earn an MBA degree: the on-campus (Missoula) option and the distance learning option. Classes are held in Missoula, MT, and evening classes are interactively broadcast to eight other Montana cities, including Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Dillon, Great Falls, Havre, Helena, and Kalispell.
Students can start the MBA program and complete all degree requirements within a year if a full-time student and all of their foundation courses are complete. Some students choose to extend their individual studies to 18 months while capitalizing on experiential opportunities offered in the school and the community. The MBA professional curriculum must be completed within 5 years.
The MBA program is a 32 credit-hour professional curriculum that requires 19 credits of core courses and 13 credits of elective courses. Depending on previous coursework, students may be required to take an additional 15 credits of foundation courses. There is no thesis requirement for this program; instead we offer an integrated project course that is part of the core course requirements.
