Job Description:

• One student is sufficient but 3-5 is ideal.  I'll include the step by step guide <http://www.myfight.org/pdf/The%20Guide.pdf> we've developed, but basically, we're asking for the help of students to:

1) Find venue
2) Find 3-5 student oriented bands
3) Promote

• The event really takes the look and feel of a cool high-energy benefit concert.  We show up with all of our merchandise, video's and short speeches.  We pay for all of the promotional materials as well. We just had a group throw one of these events with 3 weeks in Oregon and it raised over $3,000 for microloans!
• MyFight is a movement to abolish extreme poverty. You buy t-shirts, we make loans, and together we empower families to escape the prison of poverty. We are business with a social bottom line--a social business. Through this hybrid design we are bringing the power of business to the concerns of charity. 100% of our profit is used to further the Fight.
  • Poverty invites oppression. For lack of education and opportunity, millions are swallowed up in the industries of indentured servitude, exploitative labor, child soldiery, and sex slavery. Estimates on the number of slaves in the world today are as high as 27 million (Kevin Bales, Disposable People). Our chief goal is to promote justice in the lives of the poor by helping them escape the vulnerability of poverty.
  • We are a movement, a gathering force, aimed at ending poverty. We are leveraging the compassion of a generation to create wealth in developing nations by teaching financial literacy, empowering entrepreneurs, creating jobs, and renewing the value of family.
  • We treat sources, not symptoms. Whether the issue is overt exploitation or restrictive policy, systemic change is the only way to bring about sustainable change. In conjunction with other tactics, we use microfinance to unfurl the potential of those cocooned in poverty.
  • We are inspired by freedom, encouraged by hope, and compelled by love. We refuse to bury our heads in the sands of denial and defeat.
