International Internship Funding

International internships are not out of reach.

There are many opportunities to receive aid for your internship!

 

  • Office of the Provost, Student Enrichment Fund: worth $500
    • Deadline: October 5 and February 15
  • Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Scholarship: worth $1,000
    • Deadline: April 1
    • Description: Do not need to be a member in order to apply
  • Alpha Lambda Delta Study Abroad Scholarship: worth $1,000
    • Deadline: Talk to your chapter advisor for deadlines
  • Golden Key Study Abroad Scholarship: worth $1,000
    • Deadline: October 15 and April 1
  • The Pat Williams Scholarship Awards Program: worth $500-1,500
    • Deadline: December 1
    • Description: Can be used for any type of internship or research
  • Dailey Study Abroad Scholarship: worth $1,500
    • Deadline: March 15
    • Description: The University of Montana offers two scholarships for a full-year study abroad program in a country where English is not commonly spoken. All undergraduates at the Missoula campus can apply. Preference shall be given to students born in Montana.
  • Boileau Study Abroad Scholarship: worth up to $500
    • Deadline: March 15 (fall) and November 27 (spring/summer)
    • Description: Scholarship is available to Spanish majors or minors who intend to participate in a study abroad program in Spain or Latin America. Only Davidson Honors College students are eligible. The Boileau Scholarship is based primarily upon merit, but also on need, and preference will be given to upper division students. Applications can be picked up at the DHC.
  • Freeman - Asia (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia): worth up to $3,000 (summer), $5,000(semester) and $7,000 (full year)
    • Deadline: February 15 (summer 2011), April 1 (fall 2011), and October 12 (spring 2012)
    • Description: Is a grant designed to support American undergraduates with finanical need to study in East or Southeast Asia. A Freeman-ASIA award provides needs-based funding for cost of the study abroad program and related expenses, including airfare, basic living costs, local transportation, books, etc.
  • Gilman Scholarship: worth up to $5,000
    • Deadline: March 1 (fall and summer 2011)
    • Description:This scholarship provides money for U.S. undergrads, who are receiving a Federal Pell Grant at a two or four year university, to participate in a study abroad program. Study abroad program must be a minimum of four weeks and can be in any country except Cuba or a country on the U.S. Department of State's current Travel Warning List
    • Additonal Money: Student can receive an additional $3,000 Critical Need Language Supplement making a total of $8,000 possible if going to a country that speaks one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Turkic, Persian, Indic, Korean, Russian, Swahili.
  • Boren Scholarship: worth up to $10,000 (semester) and $20,000 (full year)
    • Deadline: February 10
    • Description: Available to students in an undergraduate degree program who are planning to study abroad before they graduate. Student must engage in study abroad experience in a country OUTSIDE OF Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
  • Any other study abroad scholarship you can find.
  • Check to see if the study abroad program you are considering offers any scholarships or financial aid.
  • Financial aid may be available for your internship. You may be eligible to receive grants and/or loans.

    • Deadline: April 29 (fall), September 15 (spring), and February 8 (summer)

  • You can check the IE3 website for the accurate expenses related to your specific internship.  

*Tuition is waived;  you only pay the IE3 program fee.
